A UK Fiancé(e) Visa will allow you to enter the UK and get married to someone who holds settled status in the UK. This is ideal if you want to stay in the UK afterwards. A successful application for a fiancé(e) visa, will lead to entry being granted, for a period of six months. During this period, you will need to get married to your partner in the UK. Fiance Visa requirements

  • You will need to meet the following requirements, to be issued with a fiancé(e) visa:
  • You and your fiancé(e) will need to be 18 years old or over;
  • You both must have met each other in person;
  • You both must intend to live together once married;
  • If either of you were previously married, you need to show that your previous relationships have ended;
  • You will need to demonstrate that you intend to get married in the UK during the six month period, once your visa has been issued;
  • You have enough funds to support yourself and your fiancé(e) without recourse to public funds;
  • You will need to provide evidence that you will be able to suitably accommodate yourself and your fiancé(e), upon her arrival into the UK;
  • You are meeting the financial threshold of £18,600 per annum, or alternatively have savings for a set period of time. Please note, the minimum threshold increases if you sponsor a dependent child;
  • You will need to prove your knowledge of English and provide a Secure English Language Test at minimum level A1, if you hold a nationality that is outside the EEA and Switzerland. a. If you are from a majority English speaking country, you will not be required to demonstrate your knowledge of English;
  • Have a qualification that is equivalent to a UK degree that was taught in English, you will need to provide a UK NARIC letter confirming the same; 10. You may also be required to complete a TB test;
  • You will not be allowed to work in the UK during your time on a fiancé(e) visa;

Fiance Visa Processing

Processing times differ depending on visa type and other factors. The average processing time for a fiancé(e) visa is between 8-12 weeks from the date of your biometric appointments. However, applications can take up to six months. However, if your application is delayed, the Home Office usually get in touch to notify of the delay.
