Islamic wills service / London
Islamic will advice for clients in London
You can instruct MWG remotely for an Islamic will while living in London. Discuss your family, faith and estate with our Manchester-based solicitors by telephone or video, with clear advice on the separate steps needed to sign and witness the finished will.
MWG’s Manchester office supports clients in London through remote appointments. Advice concerns England and Wales, with separate advice needed where another jurisdiction is involved.
Planning around a London home and other property
If your estate includes a London flat, a family home or a rental property, begin with the ownership documents rather than an assumed inheritance split. Tell us who owns each property, whether it is mortgaged and whether another person has a beneficial interest. A will can only deal with assets that fall within its scope.
For jointly owned property, the form of ownership matters. A beneficial joint tenancy usually passes to the surviving owner outside the will; a tenancy in common can allow a share to pass under it. Do not change ownership simply to fit a template. Consider the legal, financial and family implications first.
Investments and family connections overseas
Prepare a separate list of investments, business interests and property outside England and Wales. Explain where you live and whether there are existing overseas wills. The location of an asset may require advice from another jurisdiction as well as a coordinated English will.
A new will should not unintentionally revoke an overseas document. We can discuss the scope of the proposed work and identify when local foreign-law or tax advice is needed. Do not assume that calling a will Islamic makes it effective in every country.
Making a remote appointment useful
Before your call, send the information requested through the agreed channel and write down your main questions. Couples should each consider their own wishes; one spouse’s instructions do not automatically stand for the other’s. Tell us about communication or accessibility needs when booking.
A remote appointment removes the need to travel from London for the initial discussion. Identity checks, capacity considerations and execution requirements still apply, and MWG will explain whether any part of your matter requires a different arrangement.
Your Islamic will: faith and legal requirements
Your religious inheritance wishes need to be considered alongside the legal requirements for a will. Family details, assets, liabilities and the religious guidance followed all matter. Our main Islamic wills guide to the service explains the scope, discretionary bequests, dependants and overseas issues.
Tell us about proposed executors, guardians, charity gifts and any existing wills. A will does not automatically control jointly owned assets, remove tax liabilities or prevent every potential claim. We will identify the issues to consider within the agreed scope.
How to instruct MWG remotely
Contact the team to explain what you need and any urgency. We will discuss suitability, client checks, the information required and the fees for the agreed work. Instructions can be taken by telephone or video, with drafts provided for review through the agreed arrangements.
Remote advice is separate from executing the will. Follow the signing and witnessing instructions for the final document; do not assume that e-signing or having witnesses on a video call is sufficient. Tell us about access, health or communication needs so appropriate arrangements can be discussed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a Manchester solicitor while living in London?
Yes. You can instruct MWG remotely, subject to our normal client checks and confirmation that the matter is within the agreed scope. You do not need a London office appointment to begin.
Do I need to travel to Manchester?
You can begin through a remote appointment. We will explain whether any aspect of your circumstances calls for an in-person meeting or another arrangement.
What does the service cost?
Fees depend on the agreed work and complexity. Ask for the scope, VAT position and any additional charges to be explained before proceeding.
Can the will reflect my religious guidance?
Explain the religious approach you wish to follow. Qualified scholarly advice may be needed where an interpretation needs clarification, alongside legal advice on the document.
